Moth To A Moyo C (w/ Description)

First prototype of a Moyo Common Flutter deck.

I used this list in the ACE tournament and placed 2nd.

I had no good uniques for the deck so I ended up using 0. Ideally, you would want ones that are cheap (1 or 2 mana) that can exhaust cards in reserve, or reduce the costs of spells. Returning cards/spells to hand can also help, and so can exchanging cards between your hand and reserve.

The Grand Endeavor was a tech I included specifically for the tournament I used this deck in, in case I played against Runefolk's Celebration Day Deck. In a normal list I would not include it.

I did not get to do any testing before the tournament so I am still not sure if this is the best list for common flutter. I will keep testing and make updates if needed. I am also working on a separate deck list for rare flutter, as I think the common and rare play a bit differently.

Tips and Tricks:

Managing which cards are in your hand and reserve are very important. Use your sleight of hands to keep cycling your Rime Frosts, Magical Trainings, and even Moth To a Flame's while putting cards with support abilities (or that are cheaper) in reserve. (Remember, it has to swap a SPELL in RESERVE with a CARD from your HAND!)

*Special Tech: A spell is considered "played" after you have finished resolving its effect and it goes to reserve. That means you can use sleight of hand to put a card like Starfish or Sylas in reserve, and they will get a boost, because the sleight of hand goes to reserve AFTER they have gotten in reserve and their support abilities are active.

Game plan:

When choosing what to mana, it is important to keep your flutter of moths (If you have 1 in your starting hand, its okay to mana it) and rime frosts. Draw is also very important. Even though the cost reduction from the studious disciple and acolyte are nice, it is okay to mana them and keep the above mentioned cards instead.

Early on, you want to try and draw as much as possible. You can go for advancements but you should only do it when you are very confident that you will either trade or take a lead. Don't be afraid to use a Sylas on day 2 just to trade and draw. And for starfish, you basically always want to draw with the ability, even if it means sacrificing a lane win and just blocking. Moth to a Flame is good if you need more board pressure, and overall a very flexible card.

In the late game, you want to use rime frost and Pamola to keep your opponents reserve locked, and get cost reduction on your flutter.

Nilam - It is difficult to play this card in the late game because of its high cost, so I recommend mana'ing it if you get it then. Depending on your starting hand, you may or may not want to keep it. The best days to play it are at 4-6 mana. If you can get it down, it can significantly boost the power of the deck (you can get some sneaky advances when paired with blizzard), but don't get greedy and play it when it is not optimal.
