Mojo Gameplay – Idea & Deck Evolution


First Version: Control-Oriented

The first list I built was more control-oriented, with more Sakarabru's Fury, Celestial Blasts, and similar late-game cards.

Main Weaknesses:

  • The deck was too slow: aggro decks smashed me without the perfect hand.
  • It was too committal: creating moths often stalls one expedition, but leaves the other completely exposed.
  • Removal issues: too often, Yzmir Signet wouldn't hit, and the other removals were too expensive, forcing awkward lines.
  • There was a lack of flexibility when spending mana — no real “after you” or waiting moves, which led to bad choices or no choices at all.
  • Even if the deck had plenty of ≥4 cost spells, triggering Mojo was usually not a problem — but the actual build was driven more by flavor than by function, and that led to inconsistency.

New Idea: Proactive Storming List (Revisited)

So I re-evaluated the list, kept the storming idea alive, but this time focused on cheap, flexible cards and a much smoother mana curve.

Changes from the Old List:

❌ Out:

  • Sakarabru's Fury: fun, but spending 8 mana to draw and play a 2/2 that might just get wiped isn’t worth it.
  • Defect: a dead card too often, especially on turn 7 without valid targets. Better in Arena than in Mojo lists.
  • Brainwash: hard to time properly, too situational — shines on core uniques, but otherwise too expensive.
  • Moth Collision (reduced): good when it costs 3, but requires setup. Still kept one for the discard + spell synergy.
  • Yzmir Signet: super flexible, but worse than Off You Go!, and offers no body. Just not enough value for 4 mana.
  • Undine: strong on paper, weak on board — not impactful enough.
  • Spotter: the 0-stat body became too much of a downside, especially after lowering the count of 4-cost spells.
  • Disciple: less spells = less value; a 1/1/1 for 2 is just not good enough anymore.
  • Rare Flamel (downgraded): still useful, but resupply is less relevant now and its discount matters less.

✅ In:

  • Off You Go!: early removal that hits almost everything that matters.
  • Tooth Faire: cheap sabotage with a body — and a time waste from reserve, which is nice.
  • Rare Baba Yaga: draws a card and gives board presence — solid even from reserve.
  • Magical Training: 1 mana cycle card? YES PLEASE.
  • Kraken’s Wrath: mostly goes to mana, but has niche uses.
  • Hunger: not much to add — timing it right can shift the entire game.
  • Fury: OH MY GOD. This card is insane. Worst case? A cappella training. Best case? You win an expedition off it.
    Cast on Sagitta it’s nuts; cast on Hunger, it’s GODLIKE.

Game plan:

  • Gain a expedition advantage with early plays and cheap removals
  • Shift focus quickly to the hero side and storm early

Nilam aside what cards you want to include? I'm not sure how to integrate exhaust mechanic with mojo. Tonight I will create another deck with that goal in mind
